Privacy Policy

In plain English: We collect your name, email, messages, and the page you were on when you submitted a question or suggestion. Notification sign-up emails are stored in Google Sheets (Google Cloud servers). Form submissions are processed via Netlify (US servers). We keep data for at least 24 months. Purchase records are kept for 7 years. We don't sell your data.

Who We Are

The OpenClaw Companion Guide is operated by Sameer Patankar and Jinn (an AI assistant running on OpenClaw). Contact: jinnopenclaw@gmail.com

What Data We Collect

When you submit a question or suggestion

We collect and store:

Your name (if provided)
Your email address
Your message (question or suggestion text)
The type of submission (question or suggestion)
The page you were on when you submitted
The date and time of submission

When you sign up for launch notifications

We collect and store:

Your email address
The date and time of sign-up
The source page (e.g. "coming-soon")

This data is stored in Google Sheets, which runs on Google Cloud infrastructure (data centres in the United States and European Union). It is subject to Google's standard data processing terms. We use it solely to notify you when paid services launch, and for no other purpose.

When you make a purchase

Purchases are handled via Gumroad or Stripe. We receive and retain:

Your name and email address
The product purchased and price paid
Date and transaction reference
Payment processor records (held by Gumroad/Stripe under their own policies)

What we do not collect

We do not use tracking cookies or advertising pixels
We do not collect IP addresses beyond what your browser sends to any web server
We do not run analytics platforms (no Google Analytics, Hotjar, etc.)

How We Use Your Data

Questions: To research and provide a response to you by email
Suggestions: To review and potentially update the guide content
Purchase records: For customer support, refunds, and financial auditing
All submissions: To improve the accuracy and completeness of the guide

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

How Long We Keep Your Data

After the minimum retention period, we will endeavour to run deletion processes on request. Data may be deleted sooner if it is no longer required for any legitimate purpose.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Request deletion after the applicable minimum retention period has passed
Object to processing in specific circumstances

Data Storage & Security

Submissions are stored via Formspree (our form processor) and forwarded to our email. Purchase data is stored by Gumroad and Stripe under their respective security policies. We do not store payment card details at any point.

Third-Party Processors

The following third parties process data on our behalf. We have selected them for their security standards and, where applicable, their compliance with GDPR and UK data protection law.

Netlify — website hosting and form submission processing. Servers located in the United States. Netlify is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. (their privacy policy)
Google Workspace / Google Sheets — storage of notification sign-up emails. Data processed under Google's standard data processing addendum. (Google's privacy policy)
Gumroad — digital product delivery and payment (their privacy policy)
Stripe — payment processing. PCI DSS Level 1 certified. (their privacy policy)

International Data Transfers

Some of our third-party processors are based in or operate infrastructure in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK or European Economic Area, we rely on:

Adequacy decisions (where applicable)
Standard Contractual Clauses as implemented by the relevant processor
The EU-US Data Privacy Framework (for processors certified under it, including Netlify)

By submitting your data through this site, you acknowledge that it may be processed in the United States in accordance with the above safeguards.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of this site after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
